about

'Chaconne' by Jeremiah Clarke (1674-1707)
Clarke was an English Baroque Composer and Organist born in London.
The Chaconne was popular in the Baroque era where it was used as a vehicle for variation on a repeated short harmonic progression, often involving a fairly short repetitive bass-line (ground bass) which offered a compositional outline for variation, decoration, figuration and melodic invention, which you can hear clearly in this piece.
